Teacher-Pre-Kindergarten

Lisa
My name is Miss Lisa and I have been a teacher at Children Central for over 9 years. I am a Pre-K teacher. I have an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education along with 19 years of experience. I am married to a wonderful man and we have two children that have attended Children Central since they were babies. I enjoy spending time with my family and making jewelry in my spare time.

I began at Children Central in the preschool program and moved on to the pre-kindergarten (ages 4-5) program, as I enjoy getting my children prepared and ready for Kindergarten. I am dedicated to teaching my students as much as I can until they leave my side and move on to bigger things. However, I do try to make learning fun for them by planning many theme related activities for them on a daily basis. When I see the changes that the children make from the day they walk into my room until the day they walk out, then I know that I have done my job. It brings me great joy to see them grow in more ways than one.

I hope to be at Children Central for many more years to come so that I can touch the lives of the children of our future.

Rocio
My name is Miss Rocio and I joined Children Central as a Pre-K (ages 4-5) teacher in 2009. I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. I went to college in Ecuador and was pursuing a Social Work degree. Then, I moved to the United States and enrolled in Temple University in the Social Work School. However, when I was doing an internship in an elementary school I soon realized that I was in the wrong field! I fell in love with the teaching profession!

I switched majors and graduated summa cum laude from Temple University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Elementary and Early Childhood Education major). I worked in several Elementary schools in the Philadelphia School District at that time.

I am a very family oriented person. When my kids were born I decided to be a stay-at-home mom, while I was also helping my husband build his real estate business from home. Now that our kids are in school and my husband has a solid team, I am finally able to follow my passion for education.

Children Central has given me the wonderful opportunity to fulfill my desire to work educating young children. I love being around children and for me coming to work everyday is a joy. To hear the laughs of the children, to see their big, wide open eyes when they learn something new, and to get the most sincere hugs makes all the effort worthwhile.

I have two wonderful children, ages 5 and 6. I am a strong believer of raising high self-esteem, self-reliant, self-confident, independent children with a positive attitude. I raise my own children based on those principles and I bring that philosophy into my classroom.

Also, the fact that I was born and raised in Ecuador, and have a passion for traveling, which has taken me to places as far as Asia, South America, the Caribbean and Europe has helped me appreciate and respect diversity and multiculturalism. I encourage my own children and my students to appreciate who they are, where they come from and who they want to be. They are encouraged to show off their different backgrounds and to learn from their friends.

As a native Spanish speaker I have incorporated Spanish lessons into my class. This has become one of the children’s favorite lessons. The kids are filled with pride knowing they can speak another language (at least some of it!). If they feel they are successful at something, they learn to love it. If they feel they are successful at school, they will love it. Getting them to feel successful is my main goal, as I prepare my students for Kindergarten.
