Teacher-Twaddlers

Dawn B.
Hi! I am Miss Dawn. I teach in the Twaddlers room (2 year olds). I started at Children Central in September 2011. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education from Shippensburg University (Shippensburg, PA), and soon hope to pursue my Masters degree in Special Education. Since graduating in 2009, I have been a substitute teacher at local elementary schools. It was not satisfying enough for me and I felt that I needed to have my own classroom of children, which I now enjoy in the Twaddler program. I enjoy teaching younger children; they absorb everything like sponges! I look forward to the many things we will learn and the small adventures we will have together!

Outside of the classroom I enjoy taking photos of nature and beautiful landscapes with my digital SLR camera. I have found many inspiring focuses in North Wildwood, NJ where I have spent my last two summers. Aside from summering at the shore and taking photos, I enjoy movies, either in the theater or curled up on the couch. Family is also very important to me. I am the oldest of two children, and nine grandchildren. I come from an Italian family. Let’s just say holidays are LOUD and EXCITING!

I hope to bring my educational and personal experiences into the classroom to make for an exciting experience for the Twaddlers, their families, and myself!

Melissa A.
My name is Miss Melissa and I have worked at Children Central since December 2001. I have worked in the Twaddler room for over 8 years, as well as in the Preschool. I am one step away from achieving my Child Development Associates (CDA) credential. I would like to continue my education and receive a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

I have found much happiness and humility working with children. My goal as a teacher is to make sure the children in my care gain a sense of compassion, confidence and a love for learning.

My strong family connection has been a big part of who I am today. We are a fun, active large family. I have 14 aunts and uncles and 37 first cousins who I love very much. I have been married for the past 5 years to my husband Danny. I have the best parents and grandparents in the world, an awesome sister and brother and 7 of the most beautiful nieces in the world. I feel very confident that my education coupled with my personal experiences can continue to be a positive asset to Children Central.

Randi M.
I am Miss Randi and I have been working at Children Central since June 2011. I enjoy working with the older toddlers (24-36 months), who we call ‘Twaddlers.’ I am currently at Rutgers University and will graduate with a BA degree in psychology and a minor in political science in December 2011. I previously worked for another preschool and gained experience organizing lesson plans and creative activities for up to 24 children ranging in age from 6 weeks to 5 years. I truly enjoy being a teacher as it gives me real purpose. I cannot imagine doing anything else at this point in my life. One of the immediate differences I found at Children Central in comparison to my previous teaching experience is that Children Central maintains strict ratios and really sticks to them throughout the day so that the children benefit from the increased attention and strict high standards.

I love working with children every day. I love teaching them and they teach me so much in return. I enjoy watching children grow and develop and helping them along the way. When I am not working with young children, I spend my time at the beach in my hometown of Point Pleasant, NJ. Now that I am living in PA., I love exploring all the state parks and being outdoors as I learn my way around the state. Prior to becoming a preschool teacher, I taught dance, which included everything from hip-hop to ballroom. I plan on continuing my education to eventually become a high school counselor. I believe my preschool teaching experience will enable me to better understand how children develop.

Shannon R.
My name is Miss Shannon. I am a Twaddler (ages 2-3) teacher. I enjoy working with the two year olds. I love to help them develop and prepare for preschool, as we do a lot of arts and crafts projects, work on our ABC’s, numbers, colors and shapes and help them with their potty training.

I have been a Twaddler room teacher at Children Central since 2007 and cannot imagine a better place to be each day. This past year I was even nominated for "Teacher of the Year!" I am currently taking courses and finishing up my nursing degree at Bucks County Community College, as I will be both a qualified teacher and nurse! I also have taken courses in Early Childhood Education, in addition to the 18 hours of training that I take each year.

Outside of my classroom, I have two boys, ages 9 years and 5 months. When I have time, I enjoy taking bike rides at the park and spending time with my family and friends and especially look forward to our annual camping trip.
