Teacher-Infants

Amy
My name is Miss Amy and I have been working with children for over 20 years, with over 11 of them here at Children Central. I have been the lead teacher in the infant room for over four years.

I graduated from Penn State University in 1996 with a BS degree in Health Policy Administration and decided I love working with children so, I went on for my Master’s in Education. I graduated from Holy Family University in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. From 2002-2004 I substitute taught in the Neshaminy, Pennsbury and Bensalem school districts. I soon realized that my passion for children was for that of a young age.

In addition to my credentials, I have had a lot of life experiences that have helped shape and mold me into the person that I am today. In 1998, I backpacked all over Western Europe for 4 months, living in either a tent, when safe, or in youth hostels. The experiences I gained in traveling across other countries exposed me to many other cultures and ways of life, helping me to better understand myself as well as others. Each summer, my husband, two boys and I move to the Jersey shore to enjoy two months with family and friends. We believe strongly in family and feel that we are providing our children with not only memories that will last a life time but also a sense of what it means to be a family unit.

My two sons attend Children Central. Christian is in the Preschool, and Adrian is in the Infant room. They both have been here since they were 8 weeks old and there is no other place I would put my children. They have both been surrounded by so much love and nurturing while in a learning environment, and I would not have it any other way.

Colleen
My name is Miss Colleen and I work at Children Central in the infant room. I just completed my first year in October 2009 and I plan on continuing my work here at Children Central, as I pursue my Master’s Degree in Religious Studies at St. Charles Seminary. Working here has provided me with a great sense of responsibility and understanding of how important education is, even in the very early stages of development. I graduated in May of 2008 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Criminology from Immaculata University.

On a more personal note, I have traveled to Mindo, Ecuador several times while in college. During my time spent there, I worked in an orphanage with underprivileged children. We ran a summer camp for the children there and provided them with the daily essentials of life. Before each mission trip, myself, as well as the other core team members, spent much time and effort fundraising and gathering supplies for the children. Witnessing children with nothing, not even food or clothing, really gave me a new perspective on life. Exposure to a different culture and severe poverty opened my eyes to what is really important in life; therefore, making me the well rounded person that I am today. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children…to leave the world a better place…to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
